Official Presentation of the Dutch Bobsleigh and Skeleton Team

On Saturday, 11 September 2021, NewCold, as the main sponsor of the Dutch National Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation (BSBN), co-hosted the Official Presentation of the Dutch Bobsleigh and Skeleton Team for the season 2021-2022. The event at Hotel Papendal in Arnhem was a unique chance to meet the athletes of Team NewCold and see the presentation of the new equipment and clothing for the upcoming winter season and the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.

After lunch, NewCold employees, athletes’ families and fans were welcomed by Bram Hage, Chairman & Founder of NewCold. Then, Wiltfried Idema, General Board Member of BSBN in his speech replacing the unfortunately absent President of the BSBN Wim Noorman, talked about the ambitions, challenges and teamwork of BSBN, and the crucial role NewCold played in its talent development and professionalization. Afterwards, Piet Meijs, VP Business Development NewCold, gave his speech about the story of NewCold and the parallels in values the organization has with the sportive association – high speed, ambition, innovation and, of course, cold.

The presentations were followed by the main part of the afternoon – the individual interviews with the Team NewCold and presentation of the new season equipment and clothing. Vincent Kortbeek, former bobsleigher and Technical Director of the BSBN, announced all athletes and coaches and invited them to the podium for an interview.

Afterwards, everything about the equipment of the athletes was told by Dick Sas, owner of CCC Projects & Engineering. In this presentation, examples were given about material and techniques used to make a bobsled go even faster. Thereafter, the sleds and clothing were unveiled to the public by Bram Hage, Wiltfried Idema and Carl Verheijen, chef de mission of the 2022 Winter Olympics.

Later came the press moment, during which journalists from over 10 different media came to interview the athletes. During the informal Meet & Greet with the athletes, all the guests could chat with the athletes and take photos of the new sleds. In the end, it was a successful day with interesting stories and an exciting start of the winter season!
