The United Nations’ figures show that 7 million of people die every year from exposure to fine particles in polluted air. NewCold understands the importance of air quality for the health and well-being of people. Therefore, our company wants to completely eliminate unnecessary air pollution caused by our transportation services.
To ensure secure delivery of our customer food products, NewCold tracks the temperature inside the trailers and their life-time geo-position via “Cargobull Telematics Portal”. Each of our trailers is connected to the telematics portal which delivers real time data and enables to compare actual trailers’ locations with their planned schedules, monitor loading and unloading time, determine if a trailer drives loaded or empty. Based on these data, we can discover and eliminate wasteful activities in our delivery process, optimize transportation costs and make logistics service more environmentally friendly.
By combining our inbound and outbound logistics, we substantially reduce the number of kilometers our trucks drive empty and, hence, produce extra CO2 emissions. During the last year our empty kilometers travel rate was 16%, meaning that 84% of traveling time NewCold’s trucks drive filled and, therefore, create value both for customers and the company. Our future target is to decrease the number of empty kilometers to less than 10%, in order to avoid fuel sunk costs and harmful emissions that do not result in additional revenue.
